
Dr. Angela Bordin received her DVM-equivalent degree from the Federal University of Santa Maria in 2002, completed a MS degree at the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 2005, and received a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Texas A&M University (TAMU) in 2014. She joined the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at TAMU as an Assistant Professor in 2018. Her primary interests are host-pathogen interaction with focus in innate immunity and the gutlung axis in horses. She received ~$1.6 million in funding (~$4.2 million total). She received the Outstanding Young Faculty Research Award at the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, TAMU, and has authored 54 peer-reviewed journal articles and 3 book chapters. She combines a veterinary clinical perspective with molecular and cellular biology tools to address clinically-relevant questions in immunity to infectious diseases, train future clinicians and scientists, and foster excellence in research. She actively participates in the Aggie Research Program, Chaired 2 doctoral committees, mentors 1 post-doctoral scientist, 5 MS Non-Thesis Option (NTO) and several undergraduate students. Additionally, she is a member of 3 PhD and 2 MS-NTO committees. Dr. Bordin is an Editor for Microbiology Spectrum, and an ad-hoc reviewer for many peer-review journals. (Board term ends June 30, 2028)
